Well, let's try this again, shall we? I'm ready for a fresh start: I'm going to start keeping my "Dinnertime Daily" blog again.
Here's the basic premise from the first post (4/21/2003):
I just want to keep track of dinner meals that either work or don't work for our new "healthy" diet. Nothing too extreme, but we are trying to eat relatively lowfat, lots of veggies, not too many refined carbs....just healthier in general. It's been working so far (we've both lost about 15 lbs each in the last couple of months), but I sometimes forget some of the great meals we have come up with that actually work.
I wanna bigger than Jesus and bigger than wrestling
Bigger than the Beatles and bigger than breast implants
I'm gonna be the biggest thing to hit these little kids
Bigger than guns, bigger than cigarettes

We went out to hunt for mushrooms on Sunday. The weather was nice, we took the dogs and spent about 4 hours in the great outdoors! We found lots and lots of different kinds, probably 15 or so different varieties, and took pics of quite a few. There were only 2 kinds that were non-poisonous, but we didn't eat any of them. I still don't trust us to determine that from some pictures and descriptions on the internet!
Maybe next weekend we will go on an "official" foray with the Snohomish County Mycological Society and find out where the good places are to find the edibles. And have experts on hand to help identify. Big bonus, in my opinion!

It never disappoints me. The food is so good, every time we go. I love it <3
Last night, we went there with Leah's friend's Amy and Susan, who are from Asia and craving seafood that Boise just can't provide. Leah got the Sablefish in Sake Kasu and I got the sampler, with Halibut, Salmon and the Sablefish in Sake Kasu. We all shared an appetizer of Penn Cove Mussels in Thai Coconut Curry sauce. Too bad I filled up on dipping the bread into the sauce from the mussels and couldn't finish all my fish.
Our cat will be getting a lovely treat of a few morsels of leftover fish tonight. :)
I just saw a show on Food Network where they showed a guy making kringle by hand... and now I REALLY want some.
(PMS) + (just booked a trip to Denmark) + (not eating most of the day) = craving for really good pastry with almond paste
"The Larsen’s Kringle is made in the original Danish way, where the pastry is made out of layers of flaky, buttery crust, enclosing a filling of almond paste and raisins, then topped with sugar and sliced almonds and finally twisted into the traditional pretzel shape."
Tell me that doesn't sound awesome. This weekend seems to be against me dessert-wise, however. Our hunt for cupcakes was unsuccessful last night, and now I looked up Larsen's Bakery hours and they close at 5 pm on Sundays, which is in 10 minutes. Since we live 30 minutes away, there's no chance of getting kringle tonight :(((( Werrrrr....

1. Open a music player.
2. Go to 'all music'/'library'.
3. Hit shuffle/repeat/randomise.
4. Find photos of the first 10 artists/bands that come up (no repeats).
5. Have people guess who the artists/bands are.
6. Paste this in your journal and do it too, so I can have fun guessing as well
Here's how mine turned out... pretty even distribution of my actual tastes, I'd say :)

So, I have this nice turntable that Leah got me for xmas a few years ago, that I have yet to use because I have no speakers. The reason I wanted it was because I have a decent collection of old vinyl records that I got from my parents that I love and miss listening to them. Unfortunately, I am not very stereo-savvy, so I don't have like a home stereo system. Heck, I still use the "boombox" with 6 CD changer and cassette deck that my high school boyfriend got for me like 13 years ago as my main music playing device. Anyways, we recently saw some USB turntables advertised and they seemed pretty cool and really cute. But after doing a little research, I discovered that they are kinda crappy and not really worth the money, especially if you already have a decent turntable. The USB turntables are not belt-driven, which is a major bummer for most people. In my research, I also discovered that it is pretty easy to convert vinyl to digital with a few fairly inexpensive pieces of equipment and some software. This site describes step-by-step what to do: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10163_7-6226087-1.html.
This is basically all you need:
I am gonna give it a shot this weekend. I think I already have the phono preamp from when I tried hooking up the turntable to a second-hand home theater subwoofer, which worked until the subwoofer's plug broke.
These two articles are perhaps the two scariest and fascinating things I have read in a long time. If you want to check them out, just use the Salon Day Pass.
How bad is he?

On the other hand, this article was a pleasant surprise:

by Nadia PflaumA popular incumbent governor persuades social moderates alienated by fights over abortion and Darwin to quit the GOP and run for office as Democrats.
Let's see if I can keep up better on this thing than all my previous journal/blogs... I guess Leah will have to bug me for updates if I fall too far behind :P
